This building was Head Office of the Bank of Vigo, was later to become the premises of the Caixa de Aforros Municipal Savings Bank and finally the Banco Pastor.
It is eclectic in style but some modernist decorative features remain as well as a clear monumental style in line with the purpose of the building.
The facades are built in granite stonemasonry. One of the interesting features is the corner section with a cupola at the top. This is where the main entrance to the bank is found. There is a large vertical window with a semi-circular arch. Above the false keystone we can see the mythological figure of a young man.
The facades are designed vertically with a base section on the ground floor, pilasters on the upper part and the top floor acts like an entablement. Each of these parts is also framed by a horizontal moulding.
The classical style is more accentuated on the ground floor, due to the fact that it is used as bank offices, and here there are paired classical columns.
Decorative features of interest are the pinnacles on the corner section and the main façade on Policarpo Sánz. There are also stonework designs of plant decorations and flat discs with small floral decorations. Wrought Iron is used as a decorative feature in the railings of the doorways and windows on the ground floor and the parapets of the balconies.
At the top of the building there are also some interesting sculpted figures of women representing cultures from the different continents. This reminds us of the importance of Vigo as a sea-faring city, open to other cultures and in contact with people from all over the world through its port.
