Culture
According to historians, in the 17th century there were two churches in the city of Vigo (Santa María and Santiago de Vigo), neither of which survives today. There were 15 Romanic churches located in the surrounding parishes, of which three are still standing: Santa María de Castrelos, Santiago de Bembrive and San Salvador de Coruxo.
As time passed and the city gradually grew in size, the number of new churches built in different styles has grown to what it is today.
