This building is one of the finest examples of buildings by Michel Pacewicz and of nineteenth century Eclecticism in Vigo. It is popularly known as the "hotel El Moderno" as it was a hotel for some time.
The building is an excellent combination of the architect’s Parisian eclecticism and the work of local stonemasons.
It has two facades, connected by a rounded corner section with a dome and a pavilion. On the first floor the window openings have semi-circular arches and a continuous balcony in stonework.
The façade on Policarpo Sanz is symmetric, with two lateral sections concluding in a neo-Baroque pediment perforated with a decorative circle. The second and third floors feature the use of large Corinthian columns. The calle Carral façade is designed in a similar fashion but arranged asymmetrically.
Decorative features of interest include floral garlands framing the lintels of the windows on the upper floors and several corbels and false keystones in the arches throughout the building.
The building has been restored several times, once by Desiderio Pernas when the roofing was changed and the chrome effect of the dome on the corner was lost.
