The Municipal Consumer Information Office (OMIC) aims to provide information to consumers about their rights. It gives general advice to consumers and traders, consumers associations and professional bodies by organizing workshops and discussion groups on certain specific topics. It mainly focuses in educating the new consumer. To do so, it works closely with school teachers in order to bring into the classroom relevant consumer matters.

It provides documentation concerning trade and consumer matters available to the population upon request:

  • Comparative tests and consumer magazines.
  • Audiovisual material.
  • Information sheets and dossiers on specific technical and legal issues.
  • Other similar publications.

It will also provide relevant information and documentation to consumers associations and professional entities when necessary.

This office try to solve any problem, consultation or complaint concerning consumer-related issues such as:

  • Inaccurate weight.
  • Mislabelling.
  • Additives.
  • Food hygiene and hygienic control in food establishments.
  • Commercial fraud.
  • Handling and preservation of food.
  • Home shopping.
  • Insurance contracts, housing ...
  • Medical malpractice.
  • Payment of bills: electricity, telephone, gas ...
