The forest parks of Vigo are located at a convenient distance from the city and cover an area of 705,460 m². Most of the forests around Vigo are located in quite hilly areas. Much of the land is community property and has been protected thanks to the joint effort of the local residents.

In many of the hills and forest parks there are large, well-equipped leisure areas planned so that they can be enjoyed by everyone without damaging the environment. Here we list twelve forest parks that encircle the city like a crown, with spectacular views for miles around.

All the forest parks are linked by the trail GR 53. This is ideal for those who like hill walking and this is a great activity that combines adventure, nature, exercise, learning about the environment and leisure – and all without leaving the council boundaries. Reforestation of species such as birch and oak is in progress with a view to increasing the amount of autochthonous forest area and improve the visual impact of the landscape and make the whole environment more pleasant, especially in those seasons when there is greater need for shadow.
