The GR53 trail goes all along the hills and forest parks situated in the part of Vigo council area furthest from the sea. It is 56.4km in length and 16km of this are well-marked variations to the path. It takes approximately 14 hours.

Along the route there are many contrasts with green spaces and interesting archaeological remains, like the stone carvings at Fragoselo and dolmens in the Mercantil area. At several points we can stop to enjoy wonderful views of the city and its bay.

This route is quite near the city. It is long but of average difficulty and can be conveniently divided up into shorter walks so it is suitable for more experienced walkers or for those just starting out. There are several forest parks along the way, fully-equipped with picnic tables, drinking fountains etc., where the hiker rest. The public bus service stops at the beginning and end of each part of the walk.

All in all this trail is a great excuse to get out into the open, get a bit of exercise and enjoy the scenery without leaving Vigo.
