The Cíes Islands are extraordinarily rich in plant and marine life and have a wide variety of plant and animal species.

The ecosystems are diverse with many different types of plant life, and the islands are internationally recognised as having one of the most important sea bird colonies. Many other types of birds and different types of vertebrates, especially reptiles, are also found here.
