This service is aimed at ensuring the right operation of the street lighting installations throughout the city of Vigo. Its main responsibilities are:

• Coordination and control of the new public lighting facilities, both of those privately promoted as of those supported by the municipality itself.
• Management of the maintenance works, which are carried out by the public lighting main contractor.

The local electrical installations are inspected daily to prevent any kind of emergency. Repairs and replacement of defective components are planned and carried out by the contractor, on the basis of notices given by neigbours, neighbourhood associations and police reports.

The main service is the reception and resolution of the notices and requests received daily. The street lighting system must be continually improved to cope well with the urban renewal, and it may require placement modifications as well as installation of new points of light, due to new buildings, road works, technical improvement...
