The Language Standardization Service (SNL) of the City Council of Vigo, is an essential linguistic tool available to all citizens. It aims mainly to recover and stimulate the correct usage of the Galician language among the population.

In order to preserve its prestige, its priorities are to promote and facilitate the use of the Galician language within all aspects of life.

The SNL aims to implement its policies taking into account linguistica and promotional aspects in two fields of action. The public adminitration and the municipality itself.

Its action plan is mainly focused on:

• Linguistic correction and advice to individuals and companies.
• Information about Galician language courses, legislation, linguistic rights and duties, materials, and financial contribution to promote instruction.
• Awareness campaigns designed to inform about the usage and value of the galician language, supported by the City Council, individually or in partnership with other institutions and associations, and in close collaboration with the local population.

The Local Commission for Linguistic Standardization, comes out with the intention of involving citizens in collaboration strategies concerning the Galician language.
